Audra McDonald and husband welcome a daughter

Audra McDonald has given birth to a daughter.
The six-time Tony Award winner and her husband Will Swenson welcomed little Sally James on Wednesday (19Oct16).
“@thewillswenson and I are overjoyed to welcome Sally James McDonald-Swenson, born last night at 11:16pm,” she wrote on Twitter. “Our hearts are bursting.”
According to People magazine, the baby is named after Swenson’s late mother Sally and McDonald’s late father, Stanley James.
Audra and Will, who wed in 2012, announced the pregnancy in May (16). She has a daughter, named Zoe Madeline, and he is father to two sons from their previous marriages.
“Who knew that tap dancing during perimenopause (around menopause) could lead to pregnancy?” Audra wrote in a statement. “Will and I are completely surprised – and elated – to be expecting a new addition to our family.”
After the announcement, the 46-year-old had to delay her West End debut in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, saying, “I am so very grateful to everyone in New York and London for allowing me to rearrange my schedule to accommodate this little miracle.
“While I’m disappointed I have to postpone my West End debut in Lady Day, I’m glad I’ll be able to spend a little more time in Shuffle Along this summer and will look forward to setting up a 1920s-themed nursery in my dressing room when I return to the show.”
She also had to step down as Lottie Gee in Broadway musical Shuffle Along, but was planning to return to the show this winter. Unfortunately for her, the show closed early in July (16).
