For a successful movie it is important that the actors and directors work well together. Luckily there are many great pairings in Hollywood that have led to amazing movies and many awards. But which actors and directors seem to be killing it in the industry? These seven duos are and they have no signs of stopping!
1. Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese
After using Robert De Niro as his muse, Scorsese has moved onto Leo. The partnership has yet to lead the actor to his Oscar, but they have gotten a lot of Oscar nominations. They have done The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, and The Departed together. They’ve teamed up again to work on Devil In A White City.
2. Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino
The actor has been in many of the director’s films including Pulp Fiction, The Hateful Eight, and Django Unchained. They do great together and Jackson was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Pulp Fiction.
3. Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and David O. Russell
The trio really love working together. All three have been together for Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and the upcoming Joy. Thanks to the partnership Jennifer Lawrence got an Oscar, the director got four Oscar nominations, and Copper has been nominated once.
4. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton

If it’s a Tim Burton movie then you can pretty much count on Depp being the leading man. He took that position in Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, and more. The actor got one of his three Oscar nominations from the partnership and definitely became more well known for it.
5. The Coen Brothers and Frances McDormand
McDormand has been in six of the directors films and is married to Joel Coen. Luckily they make a great pair in film like they do in real life. Their work together has led to her winning an Oscar and the directors winning one and nominated for two others for Fargo.
6. Bill Murray and Wes Anderson
The director loves putting the comedian into his quirky comedies. They worked together on some amazing movies like Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Moonrise Kingdom. All of Wes Anderson’s Oscar nominations involved the movies Bill Murray acted in.
7. Danny Trejo and Robert Rodriguez
The two have done over ten movies together which include Machete Kills, Desperado, and Spy Kids. Since then Trejo won an ALMA Award for Machete and Rodriguez also has won many awards for their work together. They have yet to get any Oscar nominations.
8. Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen
The actor and director have worked together on 12 Years a Slave, Hunger, and Shame. They did so well together that McQueen won his first Oscar for Best Motion Picture and was nominated for two other Oscars. While the actor was nominated for his role in 12 Years a Slave.
