Antoine Fuqua and LeBron James developing Muhammad Ali documentary

Filmmaker Antoine Fuqua is teaming up with U.S. basketball star Lebron James to develop a documentary about boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
The untitled documentary will feature original footage and recreations of Ali’s most famous fights and it will focus on the athlete’s career achievements and setbacks. It will air on America’s HBO network.
Fuqua and James will serve as executive producers on the project, which has begun production. The Training Day filmmaker will also direct the documentary.
“Muhammad Ali meant many things to many people, and he is someone who had a deep impact on me from an early age,” Fuqua says. “Being given the opportunity to tell his story, both inside and outside of the ring, is a privilege, and a dream come true, and I couldn’t have found better partners than LeBron and HBO to help memorialise The Greatest of All Time.”
“It’s tough to put into words how much it means to me to be a part of this project honouring the legacy and telling the extremely important story of the great Muhammad Ali,” James adds. “He transcended sports and used his platform to empower people, which paved the way for all athletes and people of every race and gender that came after him, myself included.
“It’s important that his story continues for generations to come, and it’s an honour for (my company) SpringHill Entertainment and me to be a part of this.”
Muhammad Ali, who was portrayed by Will Smith in Michael Mann’s 2001 film Ali, passed away in June (16) at the age of 74.
