This Is Us star Chrissy Metz has signed on to play a real-life mum who prayed her son back to life.
The actress, who plays Kate Pearson in the TV drama, has been cast as Joyce Smith in The Impossible, according to Deadline.
The film is based on Smith’s novel, in which she details praying for her 14-year-old son’s recovery after he was left fighting for his life following a fall through a frozen lake in Missouri.
Joyce refused to leave her boy’s bedside until his heart started beating again.
Filming is scehduled to being in Winnipeg, Canada next month (Mar18).
It’s going to be a busy spring for Metz – she’ll also be making her stage debut in a revival of Neil LaBute’s play Fat Pig in Los Angeles.
