When Leonardo DiCaprio and Dame Maggie Smith shared a smooch at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Wards on Valentine’s Day, everyone nearly burst with glee. Recently on NPR’s Fresh Air, the acclaimed actress and two-time Oscar winner spoke about her love for DiCaprio and his awe-inspiring career. She said of their shared smooch, “That was the thrill for me, a real thrill because I think he’s a terrific actor. I’ve been rooting and voting for him since What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, I thought he was so amazing in that one. He was a young man, really very young boy, wasn’t he?”

DiCaprio has been nominated for his fifth Oscar this year for his work in The Revenant. Smith said of the film, “You just think, God, what he went through in that movie!” Hopefully this will be the film that finally earns Leo the Best Actor award that he so desperately deserves. If nothing else, having the woman who played Professor McGonagall is your corner  should bring you all of the luck.
