The family film scraped ahead with a weekend (16-18Apr10) gross of $20 million (£12.5 million) on its fourth week on release, compared to Kick-Ass’ opening takings of $19.8 million (£12.38 million).
But it will be another close call for the second week running – the two movies could easily switch positions when exact ticket sales for Sunday (18Apr10) are calculated on Monday (19Apr10).
Meanwhile, romantic comedy Date Night is at three this week with $17.3 million (£10.81 million), while Death at a Funeral entered the box office chart at four with $17 million (£10.63 million).
Clash of the Titans, which edged out Steve Carrell’s Date Night to take the top spot last week (ends11Apr10), tumbled from number one to round out the new top five at five.
