I suppose part of the reason why the news of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony‘s split has been so intoxicating is because nobody saw it coming. We really didn’t! There were no tabloid reports that they were having troubles, and so from our standpoint, it’s kind of like we were blindsided. And that almost never happens these days! We can read that it’s raining outside on Twitter, but we don’t get a heads up that the lady from the Venus razor ads is thinking about divorcing the guy on HawthoRNe who’s having an affair with HawthoRNe?
Anyway, we’re just going to have to get over the fact that we missed out on this one. But there are still tons of details emerging about the split that we can enjoy! Like for instance, numerous sources are claiming that Lopez originally wanted to divorce Anthony last year after she heard that he had an affair with an airline stewardess. One person somewhere said, “Jen told him she wanted out of the marriage late last year, but he begged her to stay. She stayed but she was miserable until finally she couldn’t take it anymore.” Additionally, apparently there was lots of begging, marriage counseling, and difficulty in getting Anthony to calm down with the money spending (he owed $3.4 million in taxes for last year).
In any case, this relationship is over now, but it seems like it could have been over way earlier. Would we have been prepared then? Probs not. We’ll get ’em next time, sluggers!
