The 76-year-old TV anchorman started divorce proceedings with his seventh wife on Wednesday (14Apr10), citing “irreconcilable differences” for the collapse of his 13-year marriage.
Southwick also filed papers the same day, giving the same reason for ending their union.
It was feared the pair’s divorce battle would turn bitter after Southwick’s sister Shannon Engemann revealed the marriage started to crumble after the singer accused her sibling of having an affair with King.
But King and Southwick proved they are still amicable on Thursday (15Apr10) as they hugged and chatted at their son’s Little League baseball match in Beverly Hills.
According to TMZ.com, Southwick was heard saying, “I want to thank you for today… It was the best half-hour of my life.”
King and Southwick were also snapped walking arm-in-arm and smiling in California earlier on Thursday.
They have two sons together, 11-year-old Chance and nine-year-old Cannon. King is seeking joint custody of the kids, while his wife is asking for primary physical custody of the children, as well as spousal and child support.
