Ed Norton: ‘I’m not to blame for firefighters’ death’

Ed Norton is fighting to get a wrongful death lawsuit filed against his production company dismissed.
The actor is denying responsibility for the death of firefighter Michael Davidson, who lost his life battling a blaze on the set of his movie Motherless Brooklyn.
Davidson’s widow claimed Norton’s company, Class 5, and the owner of the building used in the shoot removed fire safety and prevention safeguards, while alleging the building was not “up to code with safety requirements”, according to The Blast.
But Norton and his partners insist they have unfairly been blamed for the firefighter’s death, and they filed court documents this week (10Oct18), seeking to have the entire case dismissed.
“Understandably, plaintiff seeks to hold someone responsible for her husband’s tragic death, but in no way did any action or inaction by Class 5 cause the fire or Davidson’s death,” they state in legal papers.
Motherless Brooklyn, which stars Bruce Willis, Willem Dafoe, and Alec Baldwin was directed by Norton. It is scheduled for release next year (19).
