If you’re wondering just how are pampered and privileged Hollywood’s hottest stars have gotten during the annual awards season, you need look no further than the pre-Golden Globes edition of the famed Silver Spoon Beauty Buffet, where the celebrity descend to pick out all the latest fashions, accessories, treatments and more to make their red carpet experience complete. I strolled through the lavish grounds of Wattles Mansion set at the base of the Hollywood Hills, where I ran into the gorgeous Desperate Housewife star Nicolette Sheridan, a Globe nominee who’d just arrived to scour through the latest and greatest goodies. “I’m having an excellent time,” Nicolette proclaimed of her first stop on the Globes beauty tour. “I was just interviewed by Diane Sawyer on the set, and came from there to here and this wonderful party.” Nicolette had only just arrived, but was already indulging in “a nice cool refreshing [XS energy] drink, a tan if I feel so inclined and a couple little sparkly things. It’s all good!” The actress had already settled on her Globes night dress, but when I asked for a tease she barked, Teutonic, “NO! I tell you nothing!” I also asked for the scoop on where I might hit the dance floor with Nicolette after the ceremony, and the proud party gal expected to hit ALL the post-bashes. “Whichever direction I’m dragged in, I shall attend,” she smiled. The great thing about this year’s Silver Spoon event was that it wasn’t just doling out fashionable freebies to the stars: by requesting a donation for the American Red Cross from every attendee, the event’s planners were doing their part for tsunami relief efforts as well. The two-day party of pampering and perks lured a small army of film and TV stars: Globe nominees Teri Hatcher and Virginia Madsen were the belles of the ball on day one, smiling and posing with staffers at every booth they sampled. Other stars on the lookout for the latest new trends included Angela Bassett, Shannon Elizabeth, Lost‘s Maggie Grace and Ian Sommerhalder, a gang of Days of Our Lives divas including Diedre Hall, Kristian Alfonso and a very preggers Allison Sweeney. There was also Gabrielle Union, Sara Rue, Blair Underwood, Kevin Federline’s ex Shar Jackson, comedienne Kathy Griffin, Boston Legal‘s Lake Bell, Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum, Bijou Phillips, Kelly Hu, Rebecca Gayheart, Eliza Dushku, Nicole Eggert, sexy sisters Courtney and Ashley Peldon, pint-sized Angus T. Jones of Two and a Half Men, In Touch Weekly columnist Bobbie Thomas, the TV Guide Channel’s new hostesses with the most-est Joan and Melissa Rivers and the ultimate invited guest himself, Kato Kaelin. The stars and their entourages enjoyed complimentary hair services provided by Joico, facials from Dr. Comenge, safe tanning from SunFX, along with make up application by Napoleon Cosmetics, which debuts at Saks in the U.S. this month. Luxed line CITY cosmetics, carried in Apothia, will unveil a new collagen skin treatment line that is an alternative to Botox. All the guests were also gifted with complimentary products from brands including from fashions from Poleci, Imajeannation denim, Jelee, Rock Solid, Spanx, Troo and Tysa, Jennifer Kaufman jewelry, Nina shoes and Robert Marc sunglasses. And to look just right underneath their clothes–and to avoid an embarrassing Janet Jackson moment– Hollywood Fashion Tape and Nu Bra support garments were also doled out, um, ambicaly. While checking out the latest fashions the privileged crowd munched on cuisine from Dragon House Chinese food, Cinnabon cinnamon buns, Carvel ice cream, East of Chicago pizza, and snacks from Milton Bread sandwich bar, Progresso and Yoplait and sipped on Pepsi products, XS energy drinks, Emmolo wine and Demrak gin. And lest you think the whole event was an orgy of celebrity self-indulgence, at least one of the stars wasn’t just gathering items for herself. The Sopranos Jamie Lynn Discala proudly revealed: “I got my dog a really pretty feathery collar.” See, it is better to give than to receive.
