Al Pacino late for premiere amid protests

Al Pacino and Jessica Chastain were 90 minutes late to the London premiere of new film Salome after they were blocked in by protesters taking part in the People’s Climate March on Sunday (21Sept14). Thousands gathered in central London to demonstrate about environmental issues, and the Scarface star was caught up in the travel chaos on the way to the screening of his film and an accompanying documentary.
Pacino and Chastain made it to the red carpet an hour and a half behind schedule.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, “It was mad out there. It’s always like that in London. I once broke down in my limo and had to rock up in a cab, which wasn’t a good look.”
Salome is a film version of Oscar Wilde’s play, and Wilde Salome is a documentary about Pacino’s struggle to direct and star in the drama.
Supermodel Cara Delevingne and actress Emma Thompson were among the protesters who marched through London on Sunday.
