Barbra Streisand cloned pet dog

Barbra Streisand cloned her dog following the pet’s death last year (17).

The singer and actress’ two dogs, Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett, were cloned from her 14-year-old Coton du Tulear Samantha after cells were taken from her stomach and mouth. The animals’ names are inspired by the color of clothing Streisand dresses them in to tell them apart.

“They have different personalities,” she tells Variety. “I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her (Samantha’s) brown eyes and seriousness.”

Streisand also has a third dog – a distant relative of Samantha’s – named Miss Fanny, whose mother was called Funny Girl, after the 1968 musical, in which the Way We Were singer starred.
