Character Bio: Tom Cruise has the higher profile role as the psycho hit man in Collateral, but Foxx’s performance as the hapless L.A. cabbie Max, who gets dragged into the assassin’s plans, keeps the film steady. Max wears his soft temperament on his soft sleeve, driving his taxi daily and retreating into his dreams whenever he feels life is getting too hectic around him. And when he is able to outsmart the bad guy and save the day, we hope he finally finds the fortitude to realize those dreams.
