Practical Magic 2 Trailer Teases a Witchy Return for Bullock and Kidman

The magic is back! Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the first trailer for Practical Magic 2, confirming that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are returning as the spell-casting Owens sisters. The sequel promises a deeper dive into the magical lineage fans fell in love with in the 1998 cult classic.

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their beloved roles as Sally and Gillian Owens. Both stars are also signed on as producers. While the full cast hasn’t been revealed, longtime fans hope to see returns from Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, and possibly the original film’s younger generation—all grown up.

In June 2024 Nicole Kidman confirmed that that she and Bullock will return to star in the sequel. She told People, “Yes, I will be in it, And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that. There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.”

Practical Magic Plot Continues: What the Sequel Will Explore

Though official plot details remain mostly under wraps, Practical Magic 2 is expected to draw inspiration from The Book of Magic, Alice Hoffman’s 2021 follow-up novel. This new Practical Magic plot will likely explore the continued legacy of the Owens family, with themes of love, loss, sisterhood, and the deeper cost of magic.

Practical Magic 2 Release Date, Director, and Production Details

Practical Magic 2 has secured a theatrical release date of September 18, 2026. Acclaimed director Susanne Bier (Bird Box, The Undoing) will lead the project, with screenwriter Akiva Goldsman returning from the original film. Warner Bros. will begin production in late 2025, promising a perfect blend of nostalgia and new magic for old fans and newcomers alike.
