Janet Jackson’s new single will launch singer’s indie label

Janet Jackson will launch her career as an independent artist when her new Daddy Yankee collaboration drops overnight.

Made For Now will be the first release on the pop superstar’s own label, Rhythm Nation Records, which Janet will run with her brother Randy and Cinq Music bosses Jason Peterson and Barry Daffurn.

Janet is a singular talent, a pop culture icon, incredibly innovative and socially conscious, a true music superstar,” says Daffurn in a statement. “Together, we’ll leverage Cinq’s data-driven toolbox, global presence, and best-in-class capabilities in Latin and Urban music to connect with and grow her worldwide fan base.”

Meanwhile, the video for Made For Now, which was directed by longtime Jackson collaborator Dave Meyers, will be released at midnight east coast time in the U.S.

Meyes also directed Jackson’s All For You and No Sleep promos, as well as Ariana Grande’s God Is A Woman and Camila Cabello’s Havana videos.
