Jean Smart to play Connie Britton’s TV mum

Veteran actress Jean Smart has signed on to play Connie Britton’s TV mum in a new true crime series.
Dirty John will also reunite the 24 and Fargo star with Eric Bana, who she previously worked with on 2006 sports drama Lucky You.
Bana will portray leading man John Meehan, who charms Britton’s character, successful interior designer Debra Newell, and draws her into his web of secrets and lies.
The story is based on a real-life crime explored on Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard’s podcast of the same name, and will be chronicled in the first season of the anthology show for U.S. network Bravo.
TV bosses picked up the project in a two-season, straight-to-series deal in January (18), reports Deadline.com.
Britton will co-executive produce Dirty John with writer Alexandra Cunningham.
