Nick Cassavetes accuses ex of ‘hiding’ their daughter from him

The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes has accused his estranged wife of violating their custody agreement by preventing him from contacting their teenage daughter.
The filmmaker recently filed a police report against actress Heather Wahlquist, claiming she took off with their only child last month (Nov17) and hasn’t been returning his phone calls.
“My 13-year-old daughter Barbarella Cassavetes has gone missing, her mother repeatedly ignoring and disobeying court orders and stipulations,” Nick told TMZ.com. “Heather Wahlquist is on the run, refusing to let me see Barbie, ignoring mandatory court appearances, and evading law enforcement.”
The 58-year-old goes on to allege members of Wahlquist’s family have also been helping to keep Nick away from his daughter.
“We believe her family, grandmother Linda Massad and great aunt Jeanette Massad Anderson have been assisting in hiding Barbie and have also been served (with legal papers)…,” he continued. “I don’t know if she is OK or not, and I am extremely concerned for her well being.”
Wahlquist has since fired back at Cassavetes, insisting she has been forced to lay low with their daughter, nicknamed Barbie, for the child’s own safety, citing inappropriate text messages allegedly sent by her father, including one supposedly showing his bare backside.
She also insists Cassavetes is the one who essentially kidnapped Barbie during an incident in August (17), which she maintains was his way of exacting revenge on Wahlquist for leaving him five years ago.
Responding to her ex’s allegations on Tuesday (26Dec17), Wahlquist claimed the director has been engaging in a “revenge plot against my family and I’m terrified”.
Mother and daughter spent Christmas Eve on Sunday (24Dec17) alone, “scared that this will end bad,” she continued, accusing him of parking outside her home and “taking pictures of us and following us all around town”.
Cassavetes has yet to address Wahlquist’s charges.
Barbie is his third child; he is also dad to daughters Virginia and Sasha, from his 1985 marriage to Isabelle Rafalovich.
