Ray Winstone visits Hatton Garden heist kingpin in prison

Sexy Beast star Ray Winstone paid a low-key early morning visit to jailed bank robber Danny Jones on Tuesday (30May17) as part of his research for an upcoming movie.
Winstone will portray Jones alongside Michael Caine in a new movie based on Britain’s biggest heist.
At 60, the tough guy actor is one year older than Jones, the ringleader of the Hatton Garden heist, who is serving seven years behind bars at Belmarsh prison in London.
Harry Potter stars Jim Broadbent and Michael Gambon will also appear in the new film.
Sources tell The Sun, Ray and Danny are former friends, who both attended Edmonton County school in Enfield, north London.
Jones was jailed last year (16) for his involvement in the 2015 break-in at Hatton Garden Safe Deposit in London.
An insider says, “Ray was keen to pick the master criminal’s brain to help him get into the role.
“Ray takes every role very seriously so wanted to ask Danny if there was anything he should do in particular to get into character. He’s known Danny for years as they used to knock about together at school at Edmonton County. It’s not often that an actor finds himself in a position to be able to spend time in the presence of such a well-known criminal ahead of a job.”
Winstone arrived at Belmarsh just before 7.30am on Tuesday and prison officers approved his visit at 9am.
The actor was spotted leaving the prison with two friends two hours later.
A source claims Ray is hoping to make regular trips as filming on the heist movie continues.
