Suicide Squad villains oust Iron Man on top 50 U.S. movies list

The villains of Suicide Squad have knocked Iron Man out of the top 50 list of North America’s highest-grossing movies of all time.
Despite a critical mauling upon the film’s August (16) release, Will Smith, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie’s DC Comics blockbuster has slipped into the top 50, replacing Marvel’s Iron Man.
Suicide Squad has raked in over $318 million (GBP245 million) in the U.S. domestically to take the 50th spot on the list, and the position of director David Ayer’s movie is close to toppling filmmaker Zack Snyder’s DC Comics superhero blockbuster, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which currently sits at number 46 on the list with $330 million (GBP254 million).
Despite the bad reviews, the cast of Ayer’s film were more than happy with the movie, and Australian actor Jai Courtney, who played Captain Boomerang, is keen to make a sequel.
“How do you please everyone,” he recently told the Happy Sad Confused podcast, “and I don’t think Suicide Squad ever intended to. So no one’s setting out to upset the fan base, certainly not a fan base that can be as loyal as this kind of crowd can.
“I know what I like in a movie, and it’s not the same thing as my 12-year-old niece. It’s a challenge, and David (Ayer) did an incredible job, and I sure as hell hope we get to make another one with him.”
