Victoria Beckham will become the first recipient of the Fashion Icon prize at the upcoming E! People’s Choice Awards.
The British designer recently marked the 10th anniversary of her eponymous fashion label, and she now has further reason to celebrate, as E! executives have decided to honour her as the first winner in the new category.
“I feel so honored to be receiving the first-ever fashion Icon Award at the E! People’s Choice Awards. This year I am celebrating 10 years of my brand, and this is a wonderful way to mark that decade,” she said in a statement. “I am so grateful to be the inaugural recipient. I love what I do, and love that I have been given the opportunity to empower women through my collections. November 11 will be a very special moment for me.”
The organizers insisted that the 44-year-old is a “true inspiration and voice” for women, and an undoubtedly worthy winner.
“Victoria Beckham is a powerful businesswoman, fashion designer and true inspiration and voice for modern-day women,” praised Jen Neal, executive producer of live events and executive vice president of marketing for the E! network. “Celebrating its 10th anniversary, her brand is culturally influential across the globe and we couldn’t think of anyone better suited to receive the inaugural E! People’s Choice Awards’ Fashion Icon Award.”
Beckham celebrated a decade in business by swapping New York for a place on the London Fashion Week schedule for the first time, and recently graced the cover of Vogue Australia, as well as British Vogue alongside husband David Beckham and their four children, Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and seven-year-old Harper.
The E! People’s Choice Awards will take place on 11 November (18) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
