Cleveland Movie Theaters: Capitol Theatre

Located in Cleveland’s Gordon Square Arts District, the Capitol Theatre has been around for a century! The theater first opened in 1921 as a neighborhood movie house. At one point, it remained out of operation for almost 2 decades before it was revitalized as an all-digital cinema.

The Capitol Theatre has a number of special events for its guests such as midnight screenings known as “The Late Shift” and a Happy Hour Classic Film Series. Guests can also see a movie for just $5 on bargain Mondays!

The Capitol Theatre has multiple stories as well as 3 auditoriums. Reviewers say that the interior has an old-timey feel. After visiting the Capitol Theatre, one reviewer on Google said: “It had the vintage charm but had all the modern amenities including the comfortable reclining seats.”

Cleveland Movie Theaters: Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque

The Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art was named “one of the country’s best repertory movie theaters” by The New York Times. First opened in 1986, the Cinematheque shows classic, foreign, and independent films on weekends.

Screenings are held in the Cinematheque’s Peter B. Lewis Theater, which opened in 2015. The auditorium has a 36-foot wide screen, 4K digital and 35mm projection, and Dolby Digital 7.1 sound. Guests under the age of 25 can purchase discounted movie tickets for $7-10.

Reviewers online say that there are no bad seats in the Cinematheque’s auditorium! One reviewer on Google wrote, “The Cinematheque is one of my favorite hidden gems in Cleveland. It’s always a great opportunity to check out classic films or newer foreign pieces.” Another said, “The Cleveland Cinematheque represents the very finest film and tradition of respect for film available in the Midwest.”

Cleveland Movie Theaters: Cinemark at Valley View and XD

The Cinemark at Valley View and XD gives guests the option to see movies in XD. This is an enhanced viewing experience with a screen stretching wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, a state-of-the-art projector, and custom sound with increased speakers. The Cinemark at Valley View and XD shows first-run movies, as well as foreign films with English subtitles. In addition to standard concessions, the theater has an expanded menu and a bar that serves alcoholic drinks. The Cinemark at Valley View and XD’s auditoriums are fitted with Luxury Loungers in stadium seating. Cleveland Movie Theaters: AMC Westwood Town Center 6

The AMC Westwood Town Center 6 is located about 10 miles outside of Cleveland in the city of Rocky River. This theater offers RealD 3D for select films and its auditoriums have AMC signature recliners. AMC rewards members can even get discounted movie tickets on Tuesdays!

This theater offers a variety of food options that can be ordered ahead using the AMC Theaters app. In addition to standard movie theater options, the AMC Westwood Town Center 6 serves an enhanced menu with flatbread pizzas and mac and cheese bites. Cleveland Movie Theaters: Cedar Lee Theatre

Known as Cleveland’s specialty film theater, Cedar Lee Theatre first opened on Christmas Day in 1925 as a 1,100 seat single-screen theater. In 1983, it was transformed into a twin-screen theater, then 2 Hollywood-style screening rooms were built in 1991. Two modern stadium-style theaters were added in 1994, giving the Cedar Lee Theatre 6 screens in total.

Cleveland Movie Theaters: Aut-O-Rama Twin Drive-In Theatre

Cleveland’s Aut-O-Rama Twin Drive-In Theatre was built in 1965 and is still owned and operated by the Sharman family who first opened it. The drive-in has 2 screens and shows double features of first-run movies. Auto-O-Rama Twin Drive-In is open 7 days a week during the summer and Friday-Sunday at the beginning and end of its season.

At the Aut-O-Rama Twin Drive-In Theatre, moviegoers pay per person rather than per car like at some other drive-ins. Guests can use their car radio to listen to the movie, or they can rent 1 of the drive-in’s limited number of boomboxes for $8.50 at the concession stand. The Aut-O-Rama has a snack bar with a variety of options like hamburgers, wraps, funnel cakes, pretzels, and soft serve. They even have vegan and gluten-free options! Cleveland Movie Theaters: Regal Hudson Cinema

The Regal Hudson Cinema is located about 25 miles outside of Cleveland. The theater has 10 auditoriums fitted with comfortable recliners that enhance the movie-going experience. Cleveland Movie Theaters: Apollo Theatre

The Apollo Theatre has been an institution in Oberlin, Ohio since 1913 and is currently owned by Oberlin College. The moviehouse is about 35 miles from Downtown Cleveland.

Guests can see films at the Apollo Theatre at a very affordable price. Tickets cost only $4 Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, moviegoers can buy matinee tickets for $4. After 6 pm, tickets are $6. The Apollo Theatre has 2 auditoriums where guests can watch new films.

Cleveland Movie Theaters: Chagrin Cinemas

Chagrin Cinemas is a 14-screen movie theater that shows select films in 3D. The theater is located east of Chagrin Falls in an entertainment center; it sits between an enclosed golf dome with miniature golf and a family restaurant.

Chagrin Cinemas offers $5 Bargain Mondays, giving guests very affordable prices for first-run movies. The movie theater serves typical movie concessions such as popcorn, Pepsi soda products, and pretzels. In addition to all that, Chagrin Cinemas has an arcade filled with games that guests can play before or after their movie.

One reviewer on Google wrote, “This was our first time to this cinema and we will definitely be back!  Comfy, reclining seats, clean theaters and restrooms, and friendly staff!”
