Rumor has it Emily Blunt won’t be starring in Iron Man 2 after all. The Playlist reports that director Jon Favreau was cornered by E! at an Oscar after party and admitted that the British beauty is out as the Black Widow. It turns out that Fox execs exercised their option on Blunt, and she will now be sticking with Gulliver’s Travels instead. Favreau won’t be left empty handed though, because both Scarlett Johansson and Eliza Dushku have both shown interest.
In other Iron Man news, Gwyneth Paltrow could be out too. The actress, who starred as Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) assistant Pepper Potts in the first film, says she hasn’t received confirmation. “They haven’t even given me a script yet,” she told MTV. “They don’t tell me anything. I could be, like, a costume assistant in it. I know nothing.”
No news on Mickey Rourke either who’s up for the part of Crimson Dynamo. So far the only three locked down are Downey Jr., Sam Rockwell (Justin Hammer) and Don Cheadle (Rhodey). Favreau better get a move on if he’s going to meet that 2010 release date.
