James Cameron urges fans to ‘wake up’ to the effects of climate change

James Cameron insists people need to “wake the f**k up” to the effects of climate change.
The Titanic director has been championing environmentalist causes for decades, and has woven climate-conscious themes into his works, including the 2009 hit Avatar. And speaking to Variety, he insisted he’ll continue to do the same in his upcoming projects.
“People need to wake the f**k up,” the Oscar winner says. “We’re going the wrong direction as fast as possible. I like to say that we’re like Thelma and Louise. We’re driving straight toward the canyon at 90 miles per hour with the radio cranked up and the top down.”
James, along with his wife Suzy Amis, invested in vegan protein company Verdient Foods, and are keen to promote plant-based food sources as methods of helping to manage the crisis, because “we felt that was one of the least well served, least understood, and biggest, most important ways that we could effect change.”
He went on to urge people to make positive lifestyle changes, adding: “We all drive around in our Teslas and our Priuses and think we are doing a great job, but really we’re all assuaging our liberal guilt.
“The real solution is: change the way you live.”
