See What Game of Thrones’ Bran Stark Looks Like in Season 6

When we last saw Bran Stark, he was being welcomed to the lands beyond the Wall by the Children of the Forest and the Three-Eyed Raven (the giant tree man played by Max von Sydow) in the season four finale. After being absent for the entirety of season five, Bran is set to make his triumphant return in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. So what has Bran been doing this whole time?

Ever since that start of the series, Bran has been one of the most important characters. It’s his fall in the first episode that provides the catalyst for the entire show and depending on who you ask, Bran will either warg a dragon and help save the world or he’ll become the ultimate villain of the series. Right now, there’s evidence that Bran’s storyline could go either way and fans are left debating the future of everyone’s third or fourth favorite Stark kid. However, Entertainment Weekly may have a clue to the the next chapter in Bran’s story.

The first thing you’ll notice is that Bran is sporting a new, shorter hairdo. Perhaps short hair unlocks the full potential of his abilities (kind of like Professor X) or maybe he just realized he was never going to impress Meera with his “Sk8er Boi” haircut. You’ll also notice that Bran has opted for a Hodor-less method of transportation and appears to be riding a horse. This seems to indicate that Bran’s powers have grown tremendously since we last saw him, something that actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“Previously Bran’s seen tiny glimpses of future or past but never has he been very much in control in the situation,” Hempstead-Wright told EW, “Now we’re given looks into very important events in the past, present and future of this world and Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he’s watching the show. Equally, he’s now discovering how crucial he could be in the Great War. It’s quite Inception-y.”

Game of Thrones will return Spring 2016.
