Albert Schultz resigns from theatre role after sexual misconduct allegations

Canadian actor Albert Schultz has quit as artistic director of Toronto’s Soulpepper Theatre Company after facing a series of sexual harassment allegations.
The Alias Grace regular had initially been placed on a leave of absence after hitting headlines on Wednesday (03Jan18), but he has since decided to resign from the group he co-founded in 1998.
He has been replaced by Alan Dilworth, a theatre spokesperson tells TheWrap.com.
Four women, including Orphan Black star Kristin Booth, came forward with their claims of inappropriate behaviour on Tuesday (02Jan18), when they filed separate civil suits against Schultz and bosses at the Soulpepper Theatre Company.
He stands accused of groping and kissing women without their consent, as well as exposing himself to his alleged victims while serving as artistic director.
When the news became public earlier this week, Schultz issued a statement, in which he declared, “(These are) serious allegations against me which I do not take lightly. I intend to vehemently defend myself.”
