Alex Trebek back as Jeopardy! host following cancer treatment

Beloved gameshow host Alex Trebek is back on the Jeopardy! set after undergoing chemotherapy to beat stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
The veteran has returned to the iconic U.S. game show five months after he was diagnosed with the illness, and in a new video, he tells fans he is “on the mend” ahead of the premiere of the 36th season of the programme, set to debut on 9 September (19).
“Let me tell you, it’s going to be a good year,” Trebek said in the video.
Back in March (19), when he announced his health news, Trebek joked with fans and explained he had to beat the disease “because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years.”
The TV veteran recently told People magazine he had had a “kind of mind-boggling” shift in his health and is now in “near remission” from the illness, which has a nine per cent survival rate.
“The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…,” the Canadian told the publication. “Some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 per cent.”
He added, “I’ve got a lot of love out there headed in my direction and a lot of prayer, and I will never ever minimise the value of that.”
