Amanda Bynes’ Parents Step In to Take Control of Their Daughter’s Affairs (Finally)

Amanda Bynes‘ latest stint with the police has finally moved her parents, Lynn and Rick, to act. They will be in court Friday morning to request a temporary conservatorship, E! News confirms. This will give them control over their daughter’s financial and personal affairs.

Monday night, Bynes was detained by police on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after allegedly setting fire to the driveway of a home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. No injuries were reported, according to authorities, but bystanders said they saw Bynes’ pants on fire. While the actress was put on a 5150 hold (which is an involuntary hospitalization for mental evaluation) she was not arrested, so at least she has that going for her.

A witness to the fire described Bynes as “frantic and discombobulated,” which pretty much sums up what we’ve all been thinking lately.

In order for the judge to request Bynes’ parents’ request for a conservatorship, they will need to show evidence that their daughter is incapable of caring for herself and her affairs (which shouldn’t be hard). If they do get the conservatorship, they will legally be in charge of Bynes’ estate for as long as the court sees fit. They are already in charge of caring for Bynes’ Pomeranian, so everyone can rest a little easier.
