Star Wars actor Anthony Daniels embarked on a gruelling weight-loss program so he could fit into his C-3PO costume for the new installment in the sci-fi franchise.
The British star has reprised his role as the android in new movie Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, but admits he struggled to get back into the iconic gold suit.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, “I had to lose a stone. Now I weigh less today than I did on the first film.”
Daniels has acted in all seven Star Wars movies, and he is also contracted for the next two installments.
He adds, “I’ve signed up for the next two films, eight and nine. I’ll have to do those. But I’ll be 75 by then and by that point I’ll be thinking ‘I can’t be bothered.'”
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is due for release in December (15).
