Bon Scott sculpture to be unveiled at AC/DC Lane next week

A sculpture of rocker Bon Scott is to be unveiled next week (06Mar18) at Ac/Dc Lane in Melbourne, Australia.
The tribute to the band’s late frontman will jut out of the wall of the Cherry Brick bar.
Bar owner James Young commissioned the sculpture with backing from local government officials and recruited local street artist Mike Makatron to create the sculpture.
“I’ve painted the laneway annually for about five years now – always a varied interpretation of the theme of music,” the artist tells Music.com. “It’s an honour to add a permanent 3D element that pays tribute to a great Australian rock and roll band and its lead singer Bon Scott, but also to music in general.”
Scott died of acute alcohol poisoning in February, 1980, aged 33.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Anthrax star Scott Ian and Nikki Sixx are joining forces at an upcoming Bon Scott tribute to play AC/DC’s classic Powerage album in its entirety.
The rockers will join Rudy Sarzo, Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes, and Dave Kushner for the AC/DC Comedy & Rock Show: A Tribute To Bon Scott on 3 April (18) at the Avalon in Hollywood, California.
