Bruce Forsyth admitted to hospital with chest infection – report

Bruce Forsyth is reportedly in hospital after being admitted five days ago with a severe chest infection.
The 89-year-old presenter has had several health struggles over the past few years, with this the latest. According to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, the former Strictly Come Dancing host was rushed to St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, near his home in Surrey, England, on Sunday (26Feb17).
“Bruce came down with an infection last weekend, and it rapidly escalated into something very, very serious,” a source told the paper. “He was rushed to St Peter’s and put straight into ICU because of his age, and the nature of his illness. He was in a lot of pain, but has been very stoical throughout.
“Of course, because he is nearly 90, doctors had to take extra precautions and Bruce had to stay in intensive care for a minimum of five nights.”
However, after being given antibiotics, Bruce is now apparently preparing to return home. Wife Wilnelia will be by his side to keep a close eye on her ailing love, with the insider adding that the former Miss World has been incredible in supporting her spouse.
“Wilnelia was by his bedside virtually the entire time, and has been amazing,” the source continued. “Now Bruce just wants to get home, and slowly build his strength back up again. He remains in great spirits.”
Bruce hasn’t been seen in public since 2015, after bad health forced him to cancel several public outings in 2016 – including having to miss the funerals of close friends Ronnie Corbett and Terry Wogan.
The television veteran had to undergo keyhole surgery after falling over at his home in October 2015, which led to doctors discovering two aortic aneurysms. While the recovery process was estimated to take around two months, Bruce’s battle back to health has taken a lot longer.
Speaking on U.K. show This Morning last year (16), Wilnelia admitted she struggles to see her husband looking so frail.
“He’s the man I fell in love with because his brain is still there. He has a bit of a problem moving but we still laugh and talk,” she said. “I pray, I believe. The main thing is that he’s doing well. The pain is more emotional; sometimes we cry, but mostly we laugh.”
A source told the Daily Mail that Bruce is in a “stable condition” following the chest infection.
