Chris Rea cancels gig after collapsing on stage

Chris Rea cancelled his gig at the Brighton Centre in England on Sunday night (10Dec17), after collapsing on stage during a previous show.
The Driving Home For Christmas singer was on stage at the New Theatre in Oxford, England, on Saturday night, when he reportedly collapsed in the middle of a song, and began shaking on the floor.
He had just two dates left on his 37-date U.K. tour, but made the decision to axe the Brighton gig following Saturday’s collapse.
“Unfortunately Chris Rea has had to cancel tonight’s show at Brighton Centre due to illness,” a spokesperson for the singer said.
He is still due to perform at the Bournemouth International Centre on Tuesday night, with the representative stating that “a decision about” the gig “will be made in the near future”. As WENN went to press, tickets were still available for the Bournemouth show.
The 66-year-old singer suffered a stroke last year, and opened up in August about how it had affected his music.
“Music is a kind of therapy because you have to make yourself do it. I’m having to practise. There’s things I’ve never thought playing ever before,” Rea explained.
“I’m fine when I’m sitting down. I’ve just got a bit of balance that’s dodgy, in case someone thinks I’m drunk on stage.”
