The music mogul reaches half a century next week (07Sep09) and he’ll celebrate when billionaire Sir Philip Green hosts a lavish bash in the U.K. at the weekend (03Oct09).
The event is sure to be a star-studded affair, with Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue and Kevin Spacey topping the glittering guest list.
But Cowell is desperate to downplay the landmark birthday, insisting he doesn’t see what the big deal is.

He says, “What is there to be excited about turning 50? Can’t we just pretend it’s not going to happen? Seriously, I feel exactly the same now turning 50 as I did when I was 40 or 30. I am enjoying myself.
“There are a couple of charities I am involved with that would appreciate a donation. But please, no presents from anyone.”
