Cult horror star Naschy dies

The multi-talented actor/writer/director, known for his scary films, passed away on Tuesday (01Dec09) in Madrid, Spain, reports Variety.

Naschy – born Jacinto Molina Alvarez – began his career writing Western novels before landing his first starring role in 1968’s Frankenstein’s Bloody Terror. He went on to play the monster in a dozen other films, including The Curse of the Beast.

He later stepped behind the camera as a director, and made one of the first ever Spanish-Japanese co-productions with his wolfman thriller The Beast and the Magic Sword.

Naschy is survived by wife Elvira and two children.
