Daniel Radcliffe Admits He Was Drunk During Some ‘Harry Potter’ Scenes

Daniel RadcliffeDaniel Radcliffe is an open book. He starred in a Broadway play, baring it all. He gives interviews about relationship missteps and grooming preferences. And he practically grew up before our eyes in the Harry Potter movies. And it seems that during some parts of those movies, Radcliffe was working through some serious growing pains: his battle with alcohol.

The actor admitted to British magazine Heat that he had a rough time. He said, “I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don’t want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily – I mean nightly.” And on the subject of being drunk on the Harry Potter set, Radcliffe admitted it was occasionally the case, but that it was a result of drinking off-set with the affects spilling over at his job.”I can honestly say I never drank at work on ‘Harry Potter.’ I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes,” he told the magazine.

Since the 22-year-old actor hit legal drinking age (which is 18 in England), he’s been plagued with rumors of his issues with the bottle. And now, he’s opening up, setting the record straight about what which parts were alarmingly true and which parts were blown out of proportion. It’s an interesting tactic, but complete honesty might be the best option. It’s hard to criticize a talented actor with no secrets. He may be cut out for this Hollywood thing after all.
