Deep Purple and Alice Cooper joining forces for ‘goodbye’ tour

Rock legends Deep Purple and Alice Cooper are set to join forces for a 2017 tour of North America.
The veteran superstars, who are both Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, will be joined by the Edgar Winter Band for the 18 U.S. dates and one in Toronto.
The joint trek will serve as the U.S. leg of Deep Purple’s The Long Goodbye Tour, the title of which has sparked speculation it will be their last, especially as last year (16) drummer Ian Paice suffered a mini-stroke, forcing the Smoke on the Water rockers to cancel several gigs.
As for Alice, he is still going strong at 68-years-old, with the shock rocker not only still hitting the road as a solo act but also set to return to the road and the studio with his supergroup Hollywood Vampires next year (18).
Bandmate Joe Perry, who plays alongside Alice and actor and musician Johnny Depp in the group told the Orange County Register that they were looking to team up again in 2018, saying, “You start just fooling around on guitar, and the next thing you know, you turn on to record and it’s just such a great vibe working on a record with those guys.”
Alice and Deep Purple’s tour will start in Las Vegas on 12 August (17), and end in Toronto on 2 September (17), according to bosses at promoter Live Nation.
