Dwayne Johnson accepts Golden Raspberry Award with a smile

Dwayne Johnson has taken his Golden Raspberry honour for worst movie on the chin, insisting he’s “honoured” to accept Hollywood’s booby prize.
The action man shot a video on the morning of the Oscars (04Mar18) telling fans he had just been informed his 2017 stinker Baywatch had landed the top prize in a new category at the annual Razzies ceremony on Saturday night (03Mar18).
Always a good sport, Dwayne posted the video online. In it, he beamed, “The Razzies are the annual awards given out to Hollywood’s worst movies and I have officially ‘won’ one for Baywatch.
“Here’s the cool thing, the movie was so bad, they actually had to create another category. I’m not kidding. The new category is ‘A Movie So Rotten You Eventually Fell in Love With It’, which means the s**t sandwich you’ve been eating is so bad that you eventually start to like it.”
He added, “We made Baywatch with the best intentions (but) it didn’t work out like that… I humbly and graciously accept my Razzie.”
Johnson captioned his Instagram video: “Let me go ahead and take this ‘L’ (loss) right on the chin for Baywatch. Win some, lose some, but hey… that’s the way love goes.”
The Emoji Movie was the biggest flop at the Golden Raspberry Awards on Saturday night, picking up four dishonours.
The animated movie, which featured the vocal talents of T.J. Miller, Anna Faris, James Corden, and Patrick Stewart, landed the dubious gongs for Worst Picture, Worst Screen Combo, Worst Director for Tony Leondis, and Worst Screenplay.
Other winners at the 38th annual awards ceremony included Tom Cruise (Worst Actor for The Mummy), Kim Basinger (Worst Supporting Actress for Fifty Shades Darker), Tyler Perry (Worst Actress for BOO 2!: A Madea Halloween), and Mel Gibson (Worst Supporting Actor for Daddy’s Home 2).
