Elisabetta Canalis Came to the U.S. Because She ‘Could No Longer Face the World’

elisabetta canalisAfter it was announced in June that Elisabetta Canalis and George Clooney had broken up, it was pretty clear the reason behind the split was because Elisabetta suddenly realized that she really did want to get married and that having dogs for children wasn’t enough for her. And so she and Clooney broke up because it no longer made sense for a man who vowed to never get married again to stay with a woman who could no longer pretend that was just having a boyfriend was enough for her.

Now two months later, Elisabetta has decided to share with us some of her personal thoughts about the whole ordeal. She chose to talk to the Italian magazine, Chi, and indicated that she still feels bad about what happened with Clooney by saying, “At the end of the day I have always seen the end of my relationships as a personal failure. There is nothing ever pretty about saying goodbye.” She continued, “I have always seen cold and controlled men as the right ones for me. You have to accept that Prince Charming who is coming to save you is not going to happen. It works against you.” But the Italian actress also explained that signing on to do the thirteenth season of ABC’s hit show, Dancing with the Stars, was something that’s been great for her. She said, “The end of a relationship is complicated. I went to the United States, because at the moment I could no longer face the world. Watching my life being dissected was not easy for me…Here in Los Angeles I have found serenity. I’ve also found work. It was a difficult time for me, but you have to get on with things.”

It’s great she’s found a way to make money and distract herself from her break-up. But I’m not entirely sure her reason for doing Dancing with the Stars makes sense because if you think you can “no longer face the world,” the last thing you should be doing is getting involved in a television show. Does she know Dancing with the Stars airs on television? Does she know that after all the dancers perform their routines for the judges that Brooke Burke and Tom Bergeron stand there and ask the celebrities personal questions about how being on the show has affected and/or changed their lives? They’re going to make Elisabetta emphasize over and over again how great it is to dance and release the tension she feels about being single again! It just seems irrational that she thinks she’s going to appear on a show that’s watched by millions of people and expects to continue healing privately. I bet she probably just misspoke and she’s decided to do the show because she just wants to get back out in the world, and that is a move I can get behind.
