Elizabeth Banks adapting true crime podcast for TV series

Actress-turned-filmmaker Elizabeth Banks is turning the first season of true crime podcast Over My Dead Body into a TV drama series.
Titled Tally, the podcast’s first run of episodes chronicled the mystery surrounding the 2014 murder of attorney Dan Markel, who had been locked in a bitter divorce battle with his ex-wife, fellow attorney Wendi, eight years after the seemingly-perfect couple tied the knot and had the lavish wedding featured in The New York Times.
Over My Dead Body, investigated by journalist Matthew Shaer, was released earlier this year (19), and now Banks has signed on to adapt the show for the small screen.
The Hunger Games star will pull double duty on the project as director and executive producer, developing the show for the forthcoming WarnerMedia streaming service, reports Variety.
It’s not the first podcast from bosses at the Wondery network to get picked up for TV audiences – they are the same producers behind the Dirty John podcast, which was adapted for a drama series last year (18), earning actress Connie Britton a Golden Globe nomination. It also starred Eric Bana as the titular conman.
