Firth to play the Queen’s father

The Mamma Mia star will play Queen Elizabeth II’s father in The King’s Speech.

The film chronicles the royal’s efforts to correct a stammer after learning he was to rule England following his brother Edward VIII’s abdication in 1936.

Geoffrey Rush will play the king’s speech therapist Lionel Logue, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
