Hamilton lands Oscars gig a month after the Super Bowl

Hamilton, the man behind the MTV Video Music Awards and concerts for Neil Diamond, U2 and Christina Aquilera, has signed on to direct the 82nd Academy Awards telecast in March (10).

It will be Hamilton’s first time directing the Oscar show.

Academy Awards first-time boss Adam Shankman tells WENN, “Hamish is a first-rate live-show director who will bring enthusiasm, experience and a fresh eye to the table. He’s also a master of working with all of the latest technology in television production.”
