James Jagger calls out ‘lazy’ comparisons to dad Mick

Vinyl actor James Jagger has branded comparisons to his rocker dad Mick Jagger “lazy” but “fair” despite their different paths in the entertainment business.
James, 30, made his first major TV debut in his dad’s new 1970s rock-themed series when Vinyl premiered in the U.S. on Sunday (15Feb16), and while he’s attempting to make a name for himself as an actor, James admits living in the shadow of the Rolling Stones star can be frustrating at times.
When asked by TheWrap.com if the “inevitable comparisons” drawn between him and his father are fair or lazy, James says, “It’s both. It’s fair and it’s lazy. It’s fair enough to say I look like my father, but show me 10 fathers and 10 sons and I bet more will look like each other than not.”
Nevertheless, James gushes about getting to work with his dad by creating original music together for the series’ soundtrack, saying it was a nice “bonding” moment for father and son.
He adds, “It was great. As an artist, he really helped me with some of the lyric ideas and was helpful as a source in describing the melting pot that was New York in the 1970s. He’s such a history buff and was very helpful in terms of placing certain things and helping them make sense. He didn’t really give me any advice, but he’s always been really supportive of whatever I’ve been doing.”
James plays wannabe Kip Stevens, the frontman of fictitious punk act The Nasty Bits in his dad’s new show.
