Jamiroquai founding member Toby Smith dies

Jamiroquai’s original keyboardist Toby Smith has died at the age of 46.
The musician, a founding member of the British funk band, passed away on Tuesday (11Apr17), according to fan site Funkin.com.
No further details about his death have been released, but his former bandmate Stuart Zender paid tribute to Smith in a touching Instagram post on Wednesday (12Apr17).
Alongside a photo of Smith, he wrote, “I love you so much. My big brother Toby crossed over to the other side last night.
“All my fondest memories are of him and the band that we created. The most talented musician I have ever had the honor to make music with. There will never be another like you Toby. Your light will shine on eternally. Thank you for making mine and everyone’s life so bright. I celebrate your love and life! Rest in Love. Your bald brother Stu x”.
Smith helped to launch Jamiroquai in 1992 with frontman Jay Kay, bassist Zender, drummer Nick Van Gelder, and didgeridoo player Wallis Buchanan.
He performed and co-wrote hits like Virtual Insanity, Space Cowboy, and Deeper Underground, but left the group in 2002 to spend more time with his family.
Smith went on to work as a producer and manager, taking charge of pop rockers The Hoosiers. He also collaborated with British singer Matt Cardle on his 2013 album Porcelain.
