Jennifer Aniston is totally over the way Hollywood looks at women, especially older, childless women. She is living her life — and loving her life — regardless of what the media tells her. Basically, Jennifer is not some lonely, childless hag like the media wants you to believe. She’s not reveling in Brangelina’s divorce either. She’s doing her thing, and she’s doing it fabulously.
In Marie Claire, Jen goes in on the media’s terrible, terrible habit of scrutinizing women for literally everything. It was, in part, a response to the Huffington Post oped she wrote where she said, “If I am some kind of symbol to some people out there, then clearly I am an example of the lens through which we, as a society, view our mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, female friends and colleagues. The objectification and scrutiny we put women through is absurd and disturbing.”
She tells the magazine she’s fed up of never being able to get anything right in the eyes of the media.
“My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed,” she says. “It’s like, ‘Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it?'” She continued.
After three decades in the business, Jen admitted that she’s totally over it. “I just thought, ‘I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human.'”
The thing is, Aniston isn’t sad. She’s really enjoying her life with her brand new hubby Justin Theroux.
“Why is he the right person for me? All I know is that I feel completely seen, and adored, in no matter what state. There’s no part of me that I don’t feel comfortable showing, exposing. And it brings forth the best part of myself, because I care about him so much,” she gushed. “And he’s such a good person. It hurts me to think of anything hurting him.
Jen admitted she’s sort of at a crossroads. After marrying her new husband and scoring roles in Office Christmas Party and The Yellow Birds, she doesn’t know where her life will lead her next.
“This is a time when I’m not completely sure what I’m doing. I’m at this sort of crossroads trying to figure out what inspires me deep in my core,” she said. “What used to make me tick is not necessarily making me tick anymore. The most challenging thing right now is trying to find what it is that makes my heart sing.”
