John Lasseter ready to get back to business after misconduct scandal

Disgraced former Pixar and Disney boss John Lasseter has assured his new colleagues at Skydance Animation he has learned from his past mistakes.
Company bosses staged a ‘town hall meeting’ on Monday morning (14Jan19) to allow the filmmaker and executive to address allegations he acted inappropriately at his old job.
Lasseter previously apologised and took a leave of absence at the end of 2017, as misconduct allegations began to swirl around him, and he was let go by Disney last year (18) after a six-month sabbatical.
His new boss, David Ellison, announced the controversial hire last week, insisting the decision to make Lasseter Skydance’s new executive was not one he and his colleagues entered into “lightly”, adding in a statement, “John has acknowledged and apologized for his mistakes and, during the past year away from the workplace, has endeavored to address and reform them.”
Lasseter’s return prompted much discussion, and Ellison decided to let the Toy Story director speak for himself on Monday.
According to Deadline, he told his new colleagues, “I am deeply sorry for my actions, which were unquestionably wrong. I very much regret making women feel unsafe or disrespected.
“I will continue to work every day for the rest of my life to prove to you that I have grown and learned. I am resolute in my commitment to build an animation studio upon a foundation of equality, safety, trust and mutual respect for everyone.”
He also promised to continue to tell women’s stories, like Moana and The Princess & the Frog, and insisted he’ll be expanding opportunities for women behind the camera.
