Lionel Richie added to Kenny Rogers’ star-studded concert tribute

Lionel Richie has joined the line-up of stars set to honour Kenny Rogers in a tribute concert later this month (Oct17).
The 68-year-old is slated to take the stage for the one-night only event, All In For the Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Lionel will join Dolly Parton, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Reba McEntire and others in celebrating the country legend’s long-running career.
Richie’s friendship with the retiring star dates back decades, while Lionel penned the song Lady for Rogers in 2001.
“A lifetime of friendship and I could not be more honoured to be a part of Kenny’s Farewell Concert Celebration,” Richie said in a statement. “It’s going to be a special night.”
Rogers, 79, announced in 2015 he would retire following his next world tour.
“I’ve done this long enough,” he told the U.S. series The Today Show at the time. “There’s a fine line between being driven and being selfish, and I think I crossed that line when I was younger. I really want to be there with my kids and my wife. I don’t see enough of them. And I have some things on my bucket list.”
He will bow out of the spotlight following his last big appearance at All In For the Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration on 25 October (17).
