Luke Skywalker blaster on sale for $300,000

A blaster gun used by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is expected to sell at auction for $300,000 (£200,000).
The fibreglass film prop, originally used in the 1980 film, was given by Mark to an eight-year-old British boy when the actor appeared on BBC TV show Jim’ll Fix It in 1979.
A private collector who now owns the weapon has put it up for sale in an online auction run by Los Angeles auction house Nate D. Sanders. The sale ends on 28 January (16).
The blaster is listed as having a minimum price of $200,000 (£133,000), but staff at the auctioneers expect it to sell for around $300,000, according to Britain’s The Times newspaper.
“This is a very rare and desirable piece of Star Wars history,” auction house official Sam Heller tells the publication. “Collectors will cherish Skywalker’s Blaster Gun, which was used in the Rebel Alliance’s battle against the evil Galactic Empire.”
A similar blaster gun used by Harrison Ford as Luke’s ally Han Solo in the same film, sold for $210,000 (£140,000) in 2013.
