Reese Witherspoon accepted the Generation Award last night at MTV’s Movie Awards, and even though we had trouble defining what, exactly, WAS a Generation Award last week, it became clear that she totally deserved it because her speech was about how young people don’t have to get famous by being on reality shows, making sex tapes, or taking nudie pictures in mirrors with iPhones. She said, “I just want to say to all the girls out there, that I know it’s cool to be bad, I get it. But it’s also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show.” Yes, Reese, it is! You can play it old school — by gently tongue-kissing another girl on a picnic, or playing the triumphant ditz who applies to law school to impress the man who dumped her! There really are just SO MANY ways to go about it.
