Opera star Renee Fleming is set to tackle her first musical on Broadway in a revival of Carousel.
The 58-year-old soprano, who made her Broadway debut in Living on Love in 2015, will join theatre stars Jessie Mueller and Joshua Henry in a spring 2018 production of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. She will star as Nettie Fowler.
Mueller will take on the role of Julie Jordan, whose romance with carousel promoter Billy Bigelow, played by Henry, costs them both their jobs.
Previews for the show, which will be produced by Scott Rudin and Roy Furman, will begin in March, 2018.
Carousel was first staged on Broadway in 1945, and was last revived in 1994, with Audra McDonald as supporting character Carrie Pipperidge.
