Sammy Hagar and Adam Levine launch tequila line

Sammy Hagar and Adam Levine have reunited to launch a tequila line.
Santo Mezquila, a blend of tequila and mezcal, hit stores in Los Angeles on Friday (10Feb17). It will next be released in Las Vegas, Nevada, California, New York, Texas, and Florida.
Hagar and Levine decided to team up after working together on Levine’s U.S. reality show The Voice. They also took a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where they were first introduced to the two liquors mixed together.
“When we came up with that name – mezquila – the whole road opened up,” Hagar says. “We know what we’re going to do. It’s the first mezquila. We’ve invented a new product.”
The former Van Halen frontman founded the Cabo Wabo tequila company in 1996 and when launching the new liquor line he worked with bosses at the same Mexican distillery to get the perfect taste.
“It comes on like tequila and you smell a little bit of smoke in it, but it is toned down to where you get a sweet finish,” he continues. “It’s taking tequila to another level. When you blend the two you get a higher spirit, a brand new taste.”
The Maroon 5 frontman has been approached in the past about collaborating with different alcohol brands, but he admits nothing really spoke to him. However, he was thrilled to work with Hagar because he believes the rock veteran really knows his booze.
“Aside from the fact we get along famously and instantaneously, to jump on board with this guy… He kind of paved the way for so many people,” Adam adds.
