Spandau Ballet auditioning new singers to replace Tony Hadley

British band Spandau Ballet are auditioning for new singers after frontman Tony Hadley’s shock departure.
The True rockers lost their lead vocalist in July (17) when Tony announced he was leaving the band.
However, members Gary Kemp, Steve Norman, John Keeble, and Martin Kemp have vowed to carry on performing and are now staging rehearsals to find a new frontman.
“We are in rehearsals in a couple of weeks trying out new singers,” Martin said at a question and answer session broadcast on Facebook. “So, we’re moving it on, and it’s moving on pretty fast.”
He added, “For me, this is probably the most excited I’ve been about the band for such a long time that we’ve got all of this freedom, we don’t know what’s laying ahead and it’s exciting.”
Tony’s announcement came as a shock to fans as he failed to detail the reasons why he left the group, only stating on Twitter that his departure was, “due to circumstances beyond my control”.
Gary said that although the announcement came as a shock to fans, Tony had wanted to quit since 2015.
The band originally split in 1990 and went through a long legal battle over royalty payments but reformed in 2009.
Steve conceded that whoever becomes Spandau Ballet’s new singer will have a tough act to follow, adding, “You can’t fill those particular boots, you just have to find someone that can manage.”
The group do not currently have any tour dates scheduled, but a remastered version of their 1986 album Through The Barricades is out on 22 September (17).
